Post-Prom Committee to have booth at Fair Thursday, Friday
There will be a booth for 2016 Post Prom at the Benton County Fair on Thursday and Friday evenings from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. All proceeds will go towards 2016 Post Prom.
If you are interested in helping on the 2016 VS post prom committee meetings, they will take place the first Wednesday of every month at Windsor Manor. Meetings will start promptly at 6:30.

PEO Chapter MZ will meet Monday, July 17, 1:30 PM at the home of Pat Floyd assisted by Jo Schmidt.
Farm Bureau Cookout Contest set for July 25; all area grillers invited
The eighth annual Benton County Farm Bureau Cookout Contest is set for Saturday July 25 at the fairgrounds in Vinton. This will be in conjunction with the Benton County Fair activities. There is no cost to enter the contest, although pre-registration is requested. Interested grillers are asked to call the Benton County Farm Bureau office at (319) 472-4710 or e-mail benton.
Auto parts swap meet set for July 18
The 2nd annual auto parts swap meet will take place Saturday, July 18, at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Admission is $5. See details in the attached flyer. Only flying B-29 to be on display at Cedar Rapids Airport
The Commemorative Air Force Air Power History Tour, featuring the iconic Boeing B-29 Superfortress FIFI, will visit Eastern Iowa July 28 – August 2, 2015.
The aircraft will be located on the west ramp (formerly PS Air) at The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids (3411 Beech Way SW, Cedar Rapids). A number of historic aircraft will accompany FIFI on the tour stop. Fair Communications Day judging event set for Saturday
While most judging for Fair projects begins Wednesday, the annual Communications Day judging takes place Saturday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to noon at VS High School.
Participants have prepared a variety of projects, including clothing, presentations and others.
The public is invited.
Friends of 4-H plan first pie auction
The Benton County Extension Council is pleased to announce the formation of a new committee. The BCIA (Benton County Iowa) FRIENDS OF 4-H fundraising committee. The purpose of this committee is to raise funds to provide financial support for Benton County 4-H members to participate in county, state and national events. Some events include: 4-H Junior Camp, State Legislative Trip, Intermediate Trip, 4-H State Conference, Citizenship Washington D.
Benton County Conservation canoe float set for Aug. 1
The Benton County Conservation Board invites river enthusiasts to a Cedar River Canoe Float from the Mt. Auburn boat ramp to the Dudgeon boat ramp on Saturday, Aug. 1. The ride begins at 9 a.m. and will take until approximately 5 p.m.
Enjoy a leisurely float down the scenic Cedar River while observing local plants and animals. You will have time to do some beach-combing and then fix a simple lunch on a sandbar.
Lutheran Home to hold annual Ice Cream Social August 2
Everyone is invited to attend the annual Ice Cream Social on August 2nd from 2-4 p.m. at the Vinton Lutheran Home Communities.
There will be homemade baked goods, a children's area with crafts, games, music and more.
